Baby Walkers Baby Walker Safety

The Inside Scoop on Baby Walkers

Baby walkers have gotten a bad rap in the press.

There are some who believe that baby walkers and bouncers are not safe.

However, millions walkers are sold each year. The fact of the matter is that these toys, as well as the ultra popular infant bouncer, have the potential to provide endless hours of amusement for babies, and when used properly are highly safe!

Keeping Your Baby Safe

A mobile walker should only be used in a home that has been childproofed. That means you have to:

  • Place covers on electrical outlets.
  • Place latches on drawers.
  • Keep your baby away from sharp corners.
  • Keep walkers away from stairways.
  • Remove heavy objects from places that your child may bump into.
  • Lock rooms that may be hazardous.

If you provide a safe environment to play in, you’ll find your child will enjoy using a walker much more than a stationary activity center.

Bouncers and Bouncing Bundles of Joy

If you are somewhat trepidatious about purchasing a walker, you can consider a bouncer.

Most babies love to bounce, that is a fact!

A bouncer can be placed in any doorway in your home, and allows your baby to bob up and down with little fear that they will run away or get into trouble. Bouncers are also more portable than other forms of entertainment, thus you can transport them over to grandma’s any time you need to visit.

Bouncers are also advantageous because they are generally inexpensive. Many Walkers usually provide tiny tots with more activities to engage in however, thus they are sometimes more popular among busy parents. If your still not sure which you might prefer, why not try both?
