Consumer Guide to Strollers Accessories For Your Stroller

Accessories For Your Stroller

As with most baby products, today's strollers come with various accessories.

Some you may consider necessities, while others are simply luxuries that make stroller riding a much more engaging and pleasant experience.

Here are some features that you might consider "necessary:"

  • Sun canopy – You may think all strollers come with a sun canopy, but many do not. Be sure you buy a stroller with adequate sun protection, or at least one that provides you the option of adding a canopy of your own. Sun protection is essential for newborn's delicate skin!
  • Washable fabric – If you are a first time parent you may not think washable fabric is a high priority. When your charming infant transforms into a toddler however, you'll soon find that your toddler takes great pride in smearing all manner of food product into the stroller seats. You'll also find having a snack is necessary during long walks. Be sure to look for a stroller that provides washable fabric that you can easily remove and clean.
  • Storage trays and cup holders – These are nice features that make traveling easier for both parent and child. If you plan to walk frequently undoubtedly you'll want to carry along a beverage to stay hydrated. Cup holders in the children's area are equally convenient for transporting snacks and drinks during the toddler years.

There are also some features that while not necessary, certainly make life more convenient. These include:

  • Large storage space – Over time you may find it more convenient to have a large storage space underneath the stroller. This space is ideal for carrying sunscreen, snacks, groceries, a change of clothes and more. The larger the space, the better prepared you will be for unexpected circumstances.
  • Toys – Some strollers have built in toys, such as a drivers wheel, for your baby. You may find a built in accessory such as this more convenient than buying separate stroller accessories.
  • Insect or Rain Shields – This is an accessory you typically have to buy separate from your stroller. They definitely come in handy however during warm summer months.
  • Removable seat – Some strollers allow you to remove the seat and provide a standing space for your toddler. You may find this a nice feature if your toddler is independent and prefers to stand or walk part of the time rather than ride as he or she gets older.
