BabyBjorn Baby Active – This pack is a popular front carrier that provides hands free supports and carrying ability for your little one. The BabyBjorn is well designed to relieve stress on your shoulders and back. You can place your baby in the pack facing toward you or facing away from you. This pack one a2003 award from JPMA for its design and comfort. You can use for babies up to 10 months typically. BabyBjorn Classic Carrier – This is one of the most well known and highly rated baby carriers. Sleekly designed, many parents enjoy this carrier because it is easy to use and looks good to. The Bjorn provides adequate head and neck support, with a front flap you can fold down when wearing your baby facing forward. Like the active carrier, this pack comes with well padded straps to help distribute your babies weight evenly and comfortably. Snugli Comfort Vent Carrier – This front pack is designed similarly to the BabyBjorn. You can place your baby in or facing out. The pack features mesh fabric to keep baby cool during longer trips. The straps are adjustable and long enough to fit someone very tall or very small. Snugli carriers are generally a little less expensive than the BabyBjorn line. Snugli Front and Back Pack – This pack allows you to carry your baby facing in, out or on your back once old enough to support his or her head. Tour by Kelty – This is a very lightweight pack with many of the same features as a traditional pack. The pack offers a five-point safety harness and you can adjust the torso to fit both parents. You can adjust the seat to accommodate your baby as he or she grows. The ventilated padded back panel allows skin to breath and an extra storage pocket allows you to pack supplies and snacks within easy reach. Adventure by Kelty – This is a much more rugged back pack designed for those that want to engage in some serious hiking. The pack is well suited for trips in rain, snow or shine. The padded five-point harness offers critical safety and support. Like most Kelty packs, an adjustable seat is available to grow with your baby with time. The pack also features a padded waist belt to help distribute weight evenly. Rumba by Sherpani – This carrier carries a child up to 70 whopping pounds! You can even adjust this carrier while still wearing it. The pack has a five point safety harness as well as a padded plat in the chest. A generous sunshade is also provided. Keep in mind most parents won't carry a child up to 70 pounds, but if you are so inclined, this pack can definitely take it! The pack also features a diaper bag you can detach and use as a day pack. Stirrups are also available to help boost leg circulation. The pack comes with a lifetime warranty. Backpack stroller by InStep – This is one of the neatest backpacks available. It easily converts from a lightweight stroller to a backpack. This is an ideal alternative for parents that want to combine the benefits of a stroller with a back pack. The pack features a five point harness and large storage basket. A removable canopy makes sun protection simple and easy. The aluminum frame provides durable yet lightweight support. Cross Country Frame Carrier by Evenflo – This pack is a lightweight, inexpensive alternative to some other packs available. It features a bottle holder, large storage pocket and kickstand to keep the pack upright when loading. A reflective trim also keeps you and your baby safe during night hikes. This pack does tend to hold your baby closer to you than other packs. Many parents enjoy the added closeness. Kelty Convertible – This pack also converts from a back pack to a stroller. You simply can't beat the convenience of having a back pack and stroller in one. This pack is probably not meant for extensive hiking trips, but it is very highly rated by users! Deuter KangaKid – This pack is lightweight and capable of carrying your child up to 33 pounds. The pack offers a safety belt, main compartment. This pack was definitely designed for short trips to the store, not for avid hikers. Keep that in mind when looking. Of course, this list is by no means comprehensive. There are dozens more back packs to select from. These packs are some of the more popular packs sold today. Evenflo packs are often appreciated for their lower costs and durability. They offer many of the perks of other models at a fraction of the cost in many cases. Keep in mind however; good quality often comes with a hefty price. Some of the top of the line carriers will run you around $200, but they will also last you year after year in most cases.
