Stroller Safety TipsYou'll find a little investment in safety goes a long way when it comes to your stroller. Most strollers come with built in safety features, including a harness to keep your infant or toddler secure during trips. There are other steps you can take to maximize your child's safety when using a stroller. Here are some other tips you should consider when using a stroller: 1. Never place an infant in a seat that does not recline. 2. Make certain you secure your baby at all times using the safety harness provided. A five point harness is the safest harness though a three point harness will provide ample safety. 3. Always lock the wheels or secure the break if you stop walking with the stroller. Never take your hands off the stroller without first securing the break, especially if you are near a road or in a parking lot. There are dozens of stories that took their eyes off their stroller for just a moment only to find it bobbing away. 4. Never leave your children in a stroller unattended. You'll be surprise the mischief they can get into. 5. Avoiding strapping your purse or other heavy objects to the handle or push bar of your stroller. This can result in weight imbalances and cause the stroller to tip over. 6. Be sure your children's fingers are not near the stroller when folding so they won't accidentally pinch their fingers. 7. When using a front to back double stroller, use care when turning sharp corners. These strollers are more likely to tip over than side to side versions, especially if the weight is not balanced. Keep in mind that even the best stroller will show signs of wear and tear after some time. You should always be on the look out for any signs of wear. If you buy a conventional stroller and use it on rough terrain, you can expect it to break down faster than a jogging stroller designed to withstand a little more impact. If you buy a stroller with rubber wheels you may consider carrying a pump with you in case you get a flat. To keep your stroller in good shape, be sure you avoid overloading it or throwing heavy items on top of the canopy, which may cause the canopy to collapse. Hopefully you now feel armed with the information you need to buy the perfect stroller for you and your family. Remember, your stroller should provide your baby with a comfortable and convenient ride from infancy through the toddler years. Happy stroller shopping!
